Below is a brief list of general jam tips & etiquette; for a more complete list check out this page on DrBanjo.com.
In General...
- Be in tune
- Be on the right chord
- Keep the rhythm
- Sing on the chorus (yes, we know you think you can’t sing, but we don’t believe you)
- Have fun
Song Leading
- The song leader will sing the lead (the verses)
- The song leader chooses the key he or she is comfortable with (generally G or A, D or C)
Solo Breaks
- Everyone is encouraged to try a solo break
- Try to grab the melody, if not, just roll (or pluck) through the chords
- When others are taking a break, keep the rhythm going but adjust your volume so the break can be heard
Things to bring to the Jam
- Song books
- Tuner
- Folding music stand
- Bottle of water, etc.
